Retired AG Finds!- What I Purchased Yesterday at a Local Doll Store

Hey butterflies! So yesterday, I went to this little doll shop to see what AG stuff they had. There were dolls, clothing, books, furniture, etc.! I did end up buying a couple of items for good prices!

The first thing I bought was this retired set of American Girl historical character puzzles from 2002! There are eight different puzzles, each with 48 pieces. All of the sets were complete, except for the "Molly" puzzle which was missing two pieces:( I payed only four dollars! :)

The second and last item that I got was Samantha's Summer outfit! It came with an adorable sailor dress and a beret like headpiece! I payed only twenty dollars!

I'm so glad that I was able to get these items! I can't wait to do all of the puzzles, and Samantha looks adorable in her new outfit! That's all for today's blog post! Making My Own T-Shirt!- Non- AG post

Hey butterflies! Today, I have a non-AG post that I think you all will enjoy! So the other day I went to Hobby Lobby, a craft store, and I got some iron-on transfer sheets (3 sheets) for around $7.00 but I used a 40% off coupon:)  I got the sheets because for the longest time I have been wanted to put the following picture (which I do not own, the picture is from the internet) on a t-shirt!

the iron-on tranfer sheets

And I finally got around to it! I purchased a mint/blue colored t-shirt at Target and after printing out the picture and ironing it on, this was the result!

A close-up of the picture

So yeah! I love the t-shirt and how it's one of a kind! I actually am wearing it right now as I blog haha! Well, that's all for today:) I just really wanted to show ya'll the t-shirt! I definitely recommend making a t-shirt as a fun project for the summer! It's so easy to customize the shirt to make it your own!

Throwback Thursday- When I First Got Karmel

Hey! So earlier I was scrolling through some of my somewhat-old photos, when I came across a picture that I took of Karmel the day after I got her! Here it is:
August 2, 2012

I know that it isn't the best quality picture since I took it on my iPad, but here it is! I love to see that photo of my MAG #28 wearing the now retired True Spirit accessories! For some reason, she looks different to me in the picture lol. Now here is a picture of her currently:

She does look a bit different! Wow, it has almost been 3 years since I found about American Girl! That's all for today!

My Thoughts on Truly Me

Hey! Today, I'll be telling you my thoughts and opinions on Truly Me, the renamed look-alike line. A while ago I made a video featuring the new American Girl Truly Me items at the "San Francisco" (Palo Alto) store, so today I decided to tell you my opinion on Truly Me. Let's start off with their new meet outfit. I like the dress and its lavender color, but I favor the old meet outfit featuring an adorable pair of khaki boots. The shoes don't really match with the new meet outfit. Also the meet outfit accessories are overpriced for the few items that you get. A new outfit called the "Seaside Fun outfit" comes with an orange-like sweatshirt and a pair of decorated shorts. Though the shorts are cute, they look like poor quality with jagged edges. That's a lot of negatives, now for the positives. Along with the debut of the line, three new dolls were debuted. I think that two out of the three dolls are very unique. I especially like #64, as her face mold is rarely used but is quite adorable. I personally think that #63 isn't very unique. She looks like many other dolls that American Girl sells. I feel like they could have came out with a more unique doll. I do like the hammock set though, as it is very cute. I also love the new flip-top desk! The accessories that come with the desk such as the tiny mechanical pencils are so adorable! Well, that is it for today. All of these opinions are mine, and are not meant to offend anyone. Well, see ya'll tomorrow!

Doll Photoshoot Tips and Tricks- AGMariposa

Hey butterflies!! I'd like to begin by apologizing for not blogging yesterday. I was waiting for my new stopmotion to upload to YouTube which took a while, and then after I was busy. So, sorry about that but anyways let's start today's post! Today I will be telling you some tips and tricks for doll photoshoots that I have gathered over time and used myself. Let's get started!

Tip #1: Always experiment with different angles. Try the doll's shoes or maybe an aeriel view showing the top of the doll's head and his/her surroundings. The same angle can get boring, and can make pictures look very similar.

Tip #2: Try different locations. You don't have to stay in your backyard! If you or a parent/guardian can drive, you can go to a park or somewhere else for a photoshoot. Even if there are people around, that's fine as long as they do not show up in the shot which will remind the viewer that the doll is small. If you're in the woods, take pictures of your doll exploring near trees. At the park? You can do the same thing, or take pictures of your doll having fun playing on the playground. The possibilities are endless!

Tip #3: Make sure to use a phone/camera with good quality pictures. I use an iPhone 5, and that takes great pictures! Some people use fancy, expensive cameras but it is perfectly fine to use what you have! Also remember to use focus, so your pictures do not turn out blurry.

Tip #4: Make sure that you're being creative with your pictures. Don't repeatedly take pictures that look the same, once again try new angles and settings. Maybe bring a prop along, or some more dolls. Try to create a story with your pictures.

Tip #5: Yes, it is cheesy and usually the last tip but have fun! The whole point of taking doll pictures is to enjoy them. Don't take pictures just because your Instagram followers want another photoshoot, but because you want to. Enjoy your pictures, and have fun taking them :)

That's it for today! I hope that this post helps if you're a doll photographer or plan to become one. I personally find these helpful so I hope you do too! Do you have any tips? Comment those down below, to be featured on my blog! Also, make sure to vote your favorite GOTY doll on the poll on my blog! Time is running out to vote!

Updates: Youtube, Mariposa Mondays, & (no) Instagram

Hey butterflies! Today's blog post is kind of just updates/announcements. So as you may or not know, I have an AGTube channel (American Girl YouTube) that I post reviews, craft tutorials, doll hairstyle tutorials, stopmotions, etc. on. I have been working on some new videos, and have decided that I'll be posting on Mondays so I can call the days that I post, Mariposa Mondays! What do you think about that? Let me know in the comments! So that means that tomorrow I will have a new YouTube video up. It is a short, cute stopmotion that me and my friend made together! I really like how it turned out, so I hope that you will too! I also am interested in starting a series, but I don't know what the storyline will be yet, so if you have any basic yet detailed ideas please email me! My email address is linked on my blog as a page called "Contact Me". Anyways, I'd also like to mention Instagram. So I have had three doll accounts so far, and they have all been deleted! I have not violated Instagram's terms so I have no clue why I have been repeatedly deleted. I no longer am on Instagram, and that is why I started my blog:) And honestly, I love this blog so much!! So that is all, and just once again make sure to check out my blog daily because I post daily! If you enjoy my blog, but don't want to attempt to remember to look it up everyday, then you can follow it by email!! It is very safe and easy:) Wow, this was long! Anyways, I can't wait to post more on here and I hope that this blog post was informative:)
