Hey butterflies!! I'd like to begin by apologizing for not blogging yesterday. I was waiting for my new stopmotion to upload to YouTube which took a while, and then after I was busy. So, sorry about that but anyways let's start today's post! Today I will be telling you some tips and tricks for doll photoshoots that I have gathered over time and used myself. Let's get started!
Tip #1: Always experiment with different angles. Try the doll's shoes or maybe an aeriel view showing the top of the doll's head and his/her surroundings. The same angle can get boring, and can make pictures look very similar.
Tip #2: Try different locations. You don't have to stay in your backyard! If you or a parent/guardian can drive, you can go to a park or somewhere else for a photoshoot. Even if there are people around, that's fine as long as they do not show up in the shot which will remind the viewer that the doll is small. If you're in the woods, take pictures of your doll exploring near trees. At the park? You can do the same thing, or take pictures of your doll having fun playing on the playground. The possibilities are endless!
Tip #3: Make sure to use a phone/camera with good quality pictures. I use an iPhone 5, and that takes great pictures! Some people use fancy, expensive cameras but it is perfectly fine to use what you have! Also remember to use focus, so your pictures do not turn out blurry.
Tip #4: Make sure that you're being creative with your pictures. Don't repeatedly take pictures that look the same, once again try new angles and settings. Maybe bring a prop along, or some more dolls. Try to create a story with your pictures.
Tip #5: Yes, it is cheesy and usually the last tip but have fun! The whole point of taking doll pictures is to enjoy them. Don't take pictures just because your Instagram followers want another photoshoot, but because you want to. Enjoy your pictures, and have fun taking them :)
That's it for today! I hope that this post helps if you're a doll photographer or plan to become one. I personally find these helpful so I hope you do too! Do you have any tips?
